When I was 19 years old my father received a tape from a friend, Mr. Joseph KAtzenstien. Mr. Katzenstien had a love for this music and nostalgia. He compiled a tape (in the days of 'mix tapes') mixing several songs and sound effects to tell the story of our heritage in sound. This tape was an influence on me at an impressionable age. This clip from that tape includes some of Chazan Hermann Lieber's singing and ends with his "Shir Hamaalos" ps 128, which eerily fades into the marching of enemy troops.
